How Knorr-Bremse is shaping the future of mobility: Highlights from the 2026 trade fair season

Growing traffic volumes on rail and road, increasing sustainability requirements, and the demand for greater efficiency are transforming mobility. At Automechanika in Frankfurt, IAA Transportation in Hanover, and InnoTrans in Berlin, Knorr-Bremse demonstrated how intelligent technologies, digital solutions, and connected services are driving the transformation of the transportation industry.

The mobility of the future is emerging where systems, data, and digital applications work together seamlessly. This very development shaped Knorr-Bremse’s trade fair appearances throughout 2026.

Rail as a Connected Ecosystem

At InnoTrans 2026, Knorr-Bremse focused on the rail ecosystem of the future. Under the motto “Rail Mobility Visioneers,” the company demonstrated how vehicles, infrastructure, and digital applications are becoming increasingly interconnected.

Among the highlights was a digital-electromechanical braking system that combines brake-by-wire technology with innovative software functions, opening up new possibilities for the train of the future. At the same time, Knorr-Bremse presented the Digital Automatic Coupler (DAC) and additional automation and assistance solutions that support a more efficient rail freight sector.

Infrastructure also played a key role. Intelligent interlockings, level crossings, and digital signaling technologies generate valuable operational data and provide the foundation for predictive maintenance and increased network availability. Knorr-Bremse solutions already demonstrate how data-driven insights can support maintenance, operations, and fleet management.

The exhibition stand served not only as a showcase for innovations but also as a platform for dialogue with policymakers, customers, and partners. Visitors included representatives of leading train manufacturers, rail operators, as well as transport ministries and public sector organizations from numerous countries.

On the Road to Highly Automated Commercial Vehicles

A few days earlier, IAA Transportation in Hanover focused on the future of road freight transport. Electrification, automation, and connectivity are fundamentally changing the requirements for modern commercial vehicles. Knorr-Bremse presented technologies designed to actively support this transformation.

One of the key innovations was the new oil-free eCompressor MTP, which enables efficient and low-noise compressed air supply. The redundant braking system rGSBC provides a key prerequisite for highly automated driving functions and is scheduled to enter series production in 2027. With Electric Power Steering (EPS), Knorr-Bremse showcased its fully electric steering system, which reduces energy consumption by up to 90 percent compared with conventional solutions.

The portfolio was complemented by technologies that enhance road safety, including advanced driver assistance systems such as Knorr-Bremse Fusion Front and Side ADAS.

The exhibition also provided an opportunity for extensive discussions with industry leaders. Among the visitors welcomed by Knorr-Bremse were Hildegard Müller, President of the German Association of the Automotive Industry (VDA), as well as representatives of leading commercial vehicle manufacturers and industry associations.

Digital Services for the Aftermarket

While IAA Transportation highlighted the vehicles of the future, Knorr-Bremse TruckServices demonstrated at Automechanika how the commercial vehicle aftermarket continues to evolve. Increasingly complex vehicles and rising efficiency requirements are driving demand for digital and connected solutions.

At the center of the presentation was the CVS Service Platform, through which Knorr-Bremse is advancing the transformation of the aftermarket. Key components include TRAVIS, PleaseFix, WESP CV, and Cojali’s diagnostic and telematics solutions. The goal is to connect workshops, dealers, and fleet operators more effectively, simplify processes, and reduce vehicle downtime.

WESP CV attracted additional attention after receiving an Automechanika Innovation Award, further increasing interest in the digital solutions showcased at the stand.

Throughout the four-day event, the open stand became a popular meeting point for industry professionals, workshops, dealers, and fleet customers.

One Shared Message

Whether on rail, on the road, or in the aftermarket, Knorr-Bremse’s trade fair appearances in 2026 delivered a clear message: the future of mobility will increasingly be shaped by intelligent connectivity. Vehicles, infrastructure, and digital services are becoming more closely integrated, creating new opportunities for greater efficiency, safety, and sustainability.

The innovations presented at these events demonstrate how Knorr-Bremse is working together with customers and partners to drive this transformation and help shape the mobility of tomorrow.
