International encounters, strong team spirit, and a shared sense of belonging: With the premiere of “The Championship,” Knorr-Bremse’s Munich headquarters became a meeting point for colleagues from around the world in July. For the first time, an international football tournament brought together employees from different locations on the pitch, making the One KB spirit tangible in a truly special way.
A total of 84 employees from Europe and Asia traveled to Munich for the event, including colleagues from Shanghai, Kecskemét, Madrid, Florence, Copenhagen, Leonberg, Aldersbach, and Munich. From the very beginning, the focus was on personal exchange, building new connections, and getting to know one another across countries, functions, and business areas.
One aspect made the tournament particularly special: the twelve teams were deliberately composed of employees from different locations. Colleagues from various countries, functions, and cultural backgrounds played side by side, demonstrating what international collaboration at Knorr-Bremse is all about. Both on and off the pitch, new connections were made that will extend far beyond the tournament itself.
The tournament title was secured by the “KB Super Kickers” – a team featuring players from Munich, Shanghai, Kecskemét, Copenhagen, and Leonberg. The winning team itself reflected the international character of the competition.
“The Championship” was part of this year’s KB Day, an annual event celebrated at Knorr-Bremse locations worldwide to bring colleagues together and strengthen team spirit across the company. In Munich, the tournament became the sporting highlight of the day. Numerous colleagues followed the matches on site, while additional teams from around the world joined via livestream.
The day concluded with a barbecue hosted by the Executive Board team and a charity raffle in support of Safe-Hub Berlin, a project funded by Knorr-Bremse Global Care e. V. In the end, the event highlighted what connects Knorr-Bremse employees around the globe: team spirit, exchange, and collaboration - truly living the spirit of “One World, One KB.”
