Products & Partners.
We systematically integrate sustainability factors into the product creation process. From the product vision, development and production to sales, maintenance and remanufacturing.
In line with our holistic approach to product responsibility, we are committed to the environmentally compatible development of innovative technologies and products that support sustainable mobility. To this end, we integrate sustainability factors into the development process, use environmentally friendly materials, industrially remanufacture used products and develop technologies for efficient and networked operation. Furthermore, we work to ensure that our own commitment to responsible practices is applied throughout the supply chain.
Product and System Safety
Our products play a significant role in continuously improving rail and road safety around the world. Making mobility safe – this is our daily mission. Yet as more and more people and goods are transported around an increasingly crowded world, the safety and comfort requirements placed on modes of transport are rising all the time. Knorr-Bremse is responding to this trend with mechatronic systems for air supply, door control, brake control and steering, as well as innovative assistance systems for vehicle stabilization and collision avoidance.
Environmental Compatibility and Energy Efficiency
We want to make mobility environmentally friendly and resource efficient, so we gear our research and development activities to these goals. Our product portfolio offers solutions that
- minimize energy consumption and improve fuel efficiency,
- reduce air emissions,
- minimize noise emissions,
- protect the environment by using more environmentally friendly materials and production processes.
In addition, we are continuously expanding the range of products that we are able to industrially remanufacture from used parts – for both rail and commercial vehicles. This saves resources and minimizes environmental impacts.
Sustainability Standards in the Supply Chain
In close cooperation with our suppliers, we want to ensure responsible practices throughout the value chain. We apply our Group-wide Code of Conduct for Suppliers as a basis. This lays down requirements for working conditions, human rights, environmental protection and safety, business ethics and compliance. In order to factor these requirements into our purchasing decisions, we regularly survey and evaluate the sustainability performance of our strategic suppliers. In addition, we conduct independent sustainability audits of suppliers that may pose a higher risk.
