Mitarbeiter & Führung

Employees & Leadership.

We are aware of our responsibility towards our employees. We strive to be a fair and reliable employer that creates the best possible working conditions.

For us at Knorr-Bremse, employee responsibility means creating an attractive working environment in which trust, appreciation, diversity and equal opportunities are practiced.

Leadership guidelines help to translate this expectation into daily business practice. Our numerous qualification and further training programs enable our employees to develop according to their individual wishes and abilities. In addition, Knorr-Bremse places a special emphasis on reconciling work and family life and offers appropriate support.

Employment Conditions

Knorr-Bremse respects and protects the rights of its employees. The core elements of our corporate responsibility - defined in the Knorr-Bremse Code of Conduct - are compliance with high standards for a safe and healthy working environment, fair working conditions, the right to freedom of association and the promotion of equal opportunities and equal treatment for our employees worldwide.

Personnel Development

Outstanding products and services are always the result of an outstanding team. We cultivate excellence among our employees with systematic and goal-oriented personnel development measures tailored to the needs of each individual employee.

True to the principle of lifelong learning, we enable our employees to continue their professional and personal education and training throughout their professional lives. The goals of our personnel development program include training based on specific needs and target groups, identification of management potential, ongoing succession planning, systematic executive development and, last but not least, consistent employee satisfaction.

At all our locations around the world, we place great emphasis on training young people: We want to lay the foundation for their professional future and attract the next generation of talented employees.

Diversity and Equal Opportunities

We regard the diversity of our workforce as an important factor for commercial success. Because having a diverse team with unique qualities enriches the company.

Appreciation of Different Cultures

As a globally active Group, we promote the understanding and appreciation of different cultures and life situations. We actively support the integration of employees from other countries. We strengthen such integration through intercultural training, language courses and placements abroad. We want to maintain the necessary proximity to our markets and customers and make use of country-specific language and cultural skills. We therefore attach particular importance to appointing local managers at our international locations.

Equal Opportunities

We see it as self-evident that our employees are to be treated equally, regardless of gender, age, nationality, religion, health condition or similar factors. Our only decisive criterion for hiring new employees and managers is their qualifications. When it comes to salaries, we do not distinguish between female and male employees.

Therefore, in order to meet the demands imposed on us even more effectively, Knorr-Bremse has been part of Germany's largest diversity network, " Charta der Vielfalt ", since October 2020. The program was launched in 2006 by four corporate groups with the aim of making diversity an essential part of the organizational culture and thus creating a working environment that is free of prejudice.

Work-Life Balance

Supporting the combination of career and family is an important goal of our personnel policy. Knorr-Bremse offers the following assistance as required:

  • Flexible work schedules and working time accounts
  • Part-time employment
  • Time off work for several months
  • Teleworking
  • Care services for families
  • Family support programs
  • Health programs

Occupational Health and Safety

We ensure a safe working environment and protect our employees from health-related impairments and injuries. This is anchored in the principles of the Group-wide Health, Safety and Environment Policy ( HSE Policy ). Key elements include risk assessments of plants, workplaces and work processes and promotion of employee safety awareness through training and information campaigns. If accidents have occurred, we analyze them carefully and derive accident prevention measures from them.

Our Group-wide occupational safety management complies with the requirements of the internationally recognized standard OHSAS 18001 (Occupational Health and Safety Assessment Series) and is set out in detail in our internal HSE processes.

We want to maintain and support the health of our employees in the long term. To this end, we offer a wide range of services and measures at our regional sites, including sports programs, preventive medical check-ups, health consultations and seminars.
